She was born Jan. 23, 1942 in Westboro, the daughter of the late Robert Donald and Catherine Elizabeth Rankin Walker.
Carol had worked at many jobs throughout Highland County and her most recent place of employment was the Highland County Head Start where she worked as a cook.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, watching John Wayne westerns and loved to play cards with her friends and family. She had also won many awards for her preserving and canning at the Highland County and Adams County Fair.
She is survived by two daughters, Denice Gillespie of Belfast and Darla (Mark) Phelps of Belfast; one son, James Dwayne Gillespie of Belfast; four grandchildren, James (Sarah) Gillespie of Belfast, Sharon (A.J.) Edmisten of West Union, Katie Phelps of Belfast and Kirk Phelps of Belfast; four great- grandchildren, James Gillespie III, Jolan Gillespie, Jody Edmisten and Jadelyn Edmisten; five brothers, Robert David Walker of Washington C.H., John (Janet) Walker of Lynchburg, Aaron "Ike" (Paula) Walker of Darby, Dale (Robin) Walker of Washington C.H. and Dennis (June) Walker of Hillsboro; one sister, Nancy Holt of Hillsboro; one sister-in-law, Jeanine Walker of Blanchester; a special friend, Penny; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Daryl Walker.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
The Rev. Harold Braley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 4 from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
