His wife Cynthia is 27, and also born in Kentucky. They have two children: Mahala B., 8; and Wm., age 6 years. Two other children born previous to this time do not appear.
In the 1870 Taylor County Census for Saloma Precinct 1, John Pierce was family 140. He was 40 years old, a Farmer born in Kentucky. His wife, Cynthia, was 38 and also born in Kentucky. The children were: William M., 16; Nancy J., 10; John L., 7; Reuben T., 5; and Lucetta, age 1month. They lived next door to James Morrison.
