Ida Mai (Hoppis) Pegram was born on September 25, 1888 in Erin, Houston County, Tennessee, the daughter of Andrew W Hoppis (1840–1907) and Rachel Ivy (Howell) Hoppis (1853–1934). {Ida's Death Certificate has her mother's maiden name as Ladd, and her obituary has her mother's middle name as Ives.}

She was educated in Erin public schools and was married in 1906 to Raymond Claude Pegram (1885–1958), the son of Benjamin Petus Pegram (1856–1919) and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Pegram (1854–1905).

In Nashville since about 1917, she was a retired employee of Castner-Knott Department Store and was a member of the Methodist church. Living at 1600 Forrest Avenue, Ida was 74 years old, a widow and had generalized arteriosclerosis when she had a stroke and died on May 27, 1963 at Nashville General Hospital.

Survivors included daughters Mrs H L Parrish and Mrs E L Roland Jr of Pegram, sons A B Pegram, W B Pegram, James W Pegram and R L Pegram in Nashville, John Pegram of Louisville, Kentucky and C E Pegram in Los Angeles, California, twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on May 29th at Cosmopolitan Funeral Home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
