Mr. Harper was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Girard, Kan., and moved to Neosho at the age of 12 in 1926.
He worked as a welder, cab driver and at Pet Milk, Wolfe Milling and Neosho Nurseries. He then was self employed doing landscaping and yeard work. Merle was an avid hunter and gardener and raise rabbits.
He is survived by three children, Gerald Harper and wife, Joyce, of Raymore, Mo., Donna Coppinger and husband, Clark, of Neosho, and Shirley Harper of Kansas City, MO., six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, with Alan Brock officiating.
Burial will be in the Gibson Cemetery.
