Obituary from the "Courier" of Gibson City, Illinois dated 2 Jun 1932:
Charles B. Miller
Charles B. Miller, well-known pioneer citizen and business man of Gibson City, died at his home on West Ninth street on Tuesday, May 31, after an illness lasting over the past two years.
Charles B. Miller was born November 24, 1857, at Secor, in Woodford county, Illinois. He was a son of James and Leah Miller. There were three children in the family, of whom only a sister survives.
He grew to young manhood in Woodford county, and then came to Elliott, where for a number of years he engaged in the hardware business. In 1896 he came to Gibson City, and for a number of years was engaged in the same business.
He was united in marriage to Miss Celia Higdon of Perdueville, Illinois, on June 16, 1896, and they have made Gibson City their home continuously since their marriage.
Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Miller, and it was in the companionships of the home that he found his greatest joys and satisfactions.
During the thirty-six years of Mr. Miller's residence in Gibson City, engaged in business as he has been, his circle of acquaintances and friends has been widely extended, among whom his comings and goings will be greatly missed.
Among the fraternal societies he was a member of the order of Ben Hur, and which he had maintain membership for twenty-seven years.
For the past two years he has been in failing health. The tender and solicitous care of his loved ones during this time made his days as comfortable and happy as affectionate hearts administering hands could do.
On May 31, 1932, he finished his earthly journey and went to his eternal home. His age was 74 years, 6 months and 7 days.
He is survived by his wife, his two children, Charles P. Miller of Walnut, Illinois, and daughter, Miss Ethel of Gibson City; one granddaughter, one sister, Mrs. Lou Sharp of Warsaw, Ill., five nieces and one nephew. May the God of all comfort graciously sustain all of these in their bereavement and sorrow.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home. Burial will be in the Gibson City cemetery.
