Mr. McMunn died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his residence. He was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Limestone County to Dock McMunn and Leona Chambers McMunn. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean conflict, and retired from the National Guard in 1983. He served in the Alabama State Defense Forces for 12 years, and was a member of the American Legion, serving as the adjutant general. Mr. McMunn was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens.
Survivors include his wife, Frances McMunn; sons, Mike McMunn and Jeff McMunn, both of Elkmont, and Neal Flum of Birmingham; daughters, Judy Littrell of Athens, Pat Magnusson of Ardmore, and Debbie VanKirk of Athens; several nieces, 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nicholus McMunn, John Magnusson, Michael VanKirk, Michael McMunn Jr., Sam McMunn, and Neal Flum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Morris, Ron Scarbel, Nick Adams, Mike VanKirk, Thomas Hunt, and Todd Rose.
