Zelda O'Connor passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, suddenly of a stroke. She was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Newport, Wash., to Albert G. Gall and Othel C. Plews.

She lived in the Spirit Lake, Idaho, area until 1940, when the family moved to Lewiston. She attended schools in Lewiston and graduated from high school in 1948.

Zelda married George G. O'Connor Feb. 18, 1952, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lewiston. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002. George preceded her in death April 15, 2003.

She operated Lewiston-Clarkston's only telephone answering service from her home on 10th Street in the late '50s, and then worked various jobs during the holidays to be sure the family would have an extra-special holiday season.

Zelda was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Lewiston Elks Lodge, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and past member of its drill team. She served as chairwoman of the March of Dimes Mothers March in February 1965, and was elected president of the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in April 1965.

Her favorite activities included spending time with her family at her Coeur d'Alene Lake home, and she looked forward to her annual Mother's Day road trips. Zelda also loved planting and tending to her vegetable garden each year.

Survivors include her brother, Raymond Gall of Everett, Wash.; sister Wanda Lawrence and husband Jay of Lewiston; two daughters, Sandra Morris and husband Gary of Oregon City, Ore., and Colleen Corbeill and husband Dave of Rathdrum, Idaho; son Tom O'Connor and wife Rebecca of Clarkston; nine grandchildren, Karen, Ron, Kim, Brian, Steve, Benjamin, Taryn, Ryan and Catrina; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Zelda in death were her parents; husband George O'Connor; and brothers Arthur (Bud) Gall and Bobby Gall.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Normal Hill Cemetery. Rev. Les Kish will officiate. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Zelda's name to All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston.
