William Monroe Pool, son of Isam and Emma (Hargus) Pool, was born October 21, 1924 near Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life in Glenwood Healthcare, Seymour, Missouri on January 23, 2013 at the age of eighty-eight years, three months and two days.
Born and raised in the Seymour area, Monroe, as he was known by his family and friends, enjoyed the Ozark hills. His love of the outdoors led to his passion for working timber. On November 27, 1946, Monroe married Mary Alice McNeil, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. The young couple lived in Mt. Home, Arkansas before moving to the Seymour area in 1961, where they bought the family farm, and lovingly raised their family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Lavone Pool; his siblings Floyd Pool, Gladys Lee, Elizabeth Coffey, Harold "Bud" Pool and Opal Todd.
Monroe is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Mary Alice of the home; his children Carol Pool and husband Rodney of Fair Grove, Missouri, Milton Pool and wife Rhonda of Humble, Texas and Mick Pool and wife Sheila of Seymour, Missouri; his grandchildren Shawn Pool, Tyler Pool, Meredith Drake, Miranda Pool, Lacy Martin and Kayla Jones; his great-grandchildren Landon Pool, Taylor Jackson, Caleb and Camden Drake, Elice and Sophia Martin.
A Jack-of-all-trades, Monroe found favor by working with his hands. He taught his children the value of giving your best in everything you do. Timber work was his passion, and he was proud of how the community grew in the surrounding area from the timber from his sawmill.
Monroe lived out his faith and attended the Assembly of God. Others came to him to seek his wisdom because they knew he would speak the truth. He had a big heart, which would reach out to help others, asking nothing in return.
William "Monroe" Pool was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom and unconditional love for all who knew him. Although he will be greatly missed, we can take comfort in the truth that through our Lord Jesus we will one day meet again.
