Preston Goodfellow, of Wilmington, DE, died at Sunrise Assistant Living at the age of 92 after a long illness.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late, Col. M. Preston and Florence (Haeussler) Goodfellow and he graduated from Poly Prep Country Day School, where he played football, ice hockey and wrestled and met many of his life-long friends. Preston graduated from Dartmouth College in 1947 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. For the next 2 years he assisted his father, the publisher of the Pocatello Tribune. While in college, he enlisted in the Army during WWII, and was a bombardier with the 5th Air Force in New Guinea and Australia. After being honorably discharged, he finished college and continued his duties as assistant operations officer at New Castle Air Base and was recalled as Captain in the Korean War in 1952. He joined the Audit Department of the, now, PNC Bank in 1949 and retired in 1977 after serving as manager of the 6th and Market Street branch. Preston enjoyed traveling, reading and following sports. He loved animals and always had a dog or cat by his side.

Preston is survived by his wife of 66 years, Allene Leach Goodfellow; a daughter, Martha Joan Faircloth; a grandson, Daniel Faircloth and a great granddaughter, Riley Faircloth. He was also preceded in death by his son, M. Preston in 1991.

The family would like to extend profound thanks to Sunrise Assisted Living and to Compassionate Care Hospice for their tireless gentle attention and diligence.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, at 11am at Riverview Cemetery, 3300 Market St.(west side) Wilmington, DE.

Instead of flowers, donation to his memory may be sent to Faithful Friends Animal Society, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804
