American Revolutionary War Officer. David Chambers was a Colonel in the Continental Army, and was actively engaged in the struggle for freedom for several years. This fact has been proven to the satisfaction of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, of which Robertson James Fisher and Paul Edmondson Walker were members.
A letter from Mrs. Anna B. Cowan to Robertson James Fisher contains the following information:
"It is certified that the records of this office show that D- Chambers was commissioned Colonel of the Third Regiment - Hunterdon County; New Jersey Militia June 19, 1776; Commissioned Colonel of a Battalion of State Troops November 27, 1776; Commissioned Colonel of the Second Regiment - New Jersey Militia Sept. 9 1777; and that he resigned May 28, 1779 - during the Revolutionary War. seal. signed W. S. Stryker."
Colonel David Chambers had 12 children. A son, Clark married Mary Guild. His daughter, Rose married John Fisher.
