Raymond P. Lantz, 88, of 2305 J St., Bedford, died at 4:08 p.m. Sunday, November 16, at the Hospitality House in Bedford. Born November 13, 1915, in Bedford, Lawrence County, he was the son of Jack and Leafie (Brown) Lantz. He married Betty Ruth Harrell on May 25, 1946; she preceded him in death on May 3, 1991.
He worked as a stone planerman in several stone companies in the area, retiring in 1980, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of Heltonville, Indiana, Area Veterans.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Kopp and her husband Charles of Bedford; one son, Michael Lantz and his wife Connie of Bedford; four grandchildren, Scott Kopp of Bedford, Susan Vest and her husband Tim of Spencer, Andrea Pemberton and her husband Paul and Sally Strunk and her husband Chuck, all of Bedford; nine great-grandchildren, Christopher Kopp, Jessi Kopp, Cody Vest, Dalton Vest, Lane Pemberton, Jay Pemberton, Ally Pemberton, Sherydan Strunk and Morgan Strunk; one sister, Helen Allen of Bedford; two brothers, Russell Lantz and Doyle Lantz, both of Arab, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Ruth Lantz; eight brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home of Bedford with Brother Tim Sumpter officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens of Bedford with military rites to be accorded at the graveside by members of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
