Mary Elizabeth Porter Burdine passed peacefully from this life Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, surrounded by her children. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1924 Trinity Ave., Walnut Creek, Calif. Interment: Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, Calif. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials: OperationBlessing.com, in lieu of flowers. Mary was born in Fort Worth and met her sweetheart of nearly 50 years, Eli Richard Burdine Sr., at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. She loved the Lord with all her heart and instilled a deep spiritual faith in her children. Mom enjoyed singing in church, gardening and being with her family. Mom worked as a licensed nursing assistant and real estate agent. She was an alumni of San Francisco State University. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eli; her brother, Reece Porter; sister, Nancy Jensen; and parents, William and Mary Porter of Fort Worth. Survivors: Children, Mary Hanel, Martha O'Brien, Richard and Eli Burdine and their spouses; and 11 precious grandchildren.
