Darrell Lee Goff, age 73 passed away at 8:35 am, Saturday, Jan 26, 2013 at his home following an illness.

Darrell was born October 13, 1939 in Galena, KS. His parents were Marvin and Bertha Barrett Goff. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.

Darrell was active in law enforcement in Cherokee County KS for many years. He served the county in several capacities including Deputy Sheriff, Under Sheriff, and Sheriff. He held some positions more than once. He retired from law enforcement in 2005 while serving as Chief of Police in Galena, KS.

He also worked at other jobs including used auto sales, farming, and operating Long's Trading Post, Baxter Springs, KS. He and his wife were Foster Parents caring for over 200 children.

He was a member of the Baxter Springs Saddle Club. He enjoyed caring for his livestock and was especially fond of raising horses. He also enjoyed repairing farm tractors.

Darrell was married to Betty Lee Leas on Dec 28, 1958 in Miami, OK. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Larry Goff, Galena, KS and Cody Rice, Riverton, KS; 5 daughters, Debbra (and Ricky) Bailey, Rockwall, TX, Linda (and Bayne) Wassom, Riverton, KS, Susie Kernel (and Chuck Goff) Galena, KS, April Prater, Joplin, MO, and Krista Rice, Riverton, KS; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents two brothers, Luther Goff and Bobby Goff, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Randy DePriest will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, KS.
