ADAMS
Mrs. David Adams, a venerated "Mother in Israel," passed away Sunday morning at her home on Main street after an illness covering several weeks. She was 78 years of age and nearly all her life had been a devout member of the Presbyterian church, living according to her Christian profession, and with a kind word for everyone, sympathy for the distressed, and glad to do any good deed for others. These noble traits of character made her greatly beloved by all who knew her. Before her marriage she was Miss Emma Crawford, of Marion county, but her residence in Mercer during most of her life has completely identified her with our people. About three years ago her husband passed away and since that time she has been living in her apartments on Main street with her daughter, Miss Sallie Adams. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Harry Crawford, of Lancaster, and the interment was at Spring Hill cemetery beside others of her family who have gone before. The pall bearers were her nephews, Messrs. John and Henry Adams, of this place, John Caldwell, Danville; William Mahon, Bradfordsville; Will and Sam Crawford, Lebanon. Mrs. Adams is survived by the following children: Miss Sallie Adams, Messrs. J. C. and Abe Adams, and Mrs. T. C. Chatham, all of this county.
