Nov 19, 1954 - Humboldt Republican - George W. Adams, son of Paul B. Adams and Rebecca Ann Martin Adams, was born in Lena, Illinois, March 1, 1872, and passed away at his home Sunday, Nov. 7, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 6 days.
In 1881 the family moved on a farm at Grundy Center, Iowa. In 1883 they moved to Humboldt county on a farm near Bradgate and later to Humboldt, where he was in the real estate business for many years. Mr. Adams had been in failing health for some time and especially the past five years. He had major surgery twice in recent years from which he never fully recovered.
He is survived by a brother, Dan H. Adams of Humboldt and a half sister, Mrs. Hannah S. Oakes of Sioux Falls, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mrs Carrie Stinson of Humboldt; and a half brother, William Johnson of Simi, CA.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 2:30 p.m. at the Bogaard funeral home in Humboldt with the Rev. Frank 0. Johnson Methodist pastor, officiating. Casket bearers were Walter Sample, John Nyby, E.C. Wittman, John Reed, Harry Strong, and Clayton Foster. Stanley C. Nelson accompanied by Mrs. Frank Johnson at the organ sang the sacred selections, "Bevond The Sunset" and "The Lord's Prayer." Mr. Stanley Nelson and Mrs. Royal Bennett were in charge of the floral tributes. Interment was made in Union cemetery, Humboldt.
