Carrie was the daughter of Paul B Adams and Rebecca Martin. She married Edwin Stinson on April 14, 1887 at Alcester, SD. They were the parents of Emma, Minnie, and Mable.

August 12, 1938 - Humboldt Republican - Carrie Jane Adams, daughter of Paul B. Adams and Rebecca Ann Martin Adams was born in Lena, Illinois, Stevenson county, November 16, 1869, and passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 1938, at 1:30 P.M., at the age of 68 years, eight months, and seventeen days. In 1881 the family moved on a farm to Grundy Center, Iowa. In 1883 she moved to Humboldt county on a farm near Bradgate, Iowa, and from here moved to Humboldt, Ia.

She was married April 14, 1887, to E.R. Stinson of Bradgate, Ia. To this union was born three children Emma Alberta, Minnie Mae, and Mable who died in infancy at the age of two months and four days. They made their home in Bradgate for a number of years where Mr. Stinson was proprietor of a general merchandise store. From here they moved to Humboldt, Iowa, and she has lived here for the past 35 years. Mr. Stinson preceded her in death more than eleven years ago on May 18, 1927.

Mrs. Stinson was converted, and baptized in the Methodist church. She was a woman that was interested in others and gave much attention to the poor and sick. She had a friendly disposition and was a good neighbor, a devoted mother and a home body tells the story of this woman in one sentence. For a number of years she was a member of the Methodist Ladies Aid and because of failing health ceased to attend the sessions. For more than a year Mrs. Stinson was in poor health and was brave and patient through it all.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters Emma and Minnie at home; two brothers George and Dan Adams of Humboldt; a half sister, Mrs. Hannah Oakes of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and a half brother, William Johnson of Simi, Calif. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Skaugstad funeral home with the Rev. Harry M. Burns pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery with R.A. Skaugstad having charge of the funeral arrangements.

The out-of-town relatives attending the services were her half sister, Mrs. Hannah Oakes of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Mrs. Oakes daughter, Mrs. Minnie Antoine of Egan, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Guy French of Nevada, Iowa; Mr and Mrs. Barney Knutson of Santa Anna, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Persons and daughter Bernice of Gowrie, Iowa.

Mrs. Stinson's half brother William Johnson of Simi, Calif., was unable to be present.
