Janice Chapman, 72, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Midtown Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Janice Chapman was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Brownwood, Texas, to the parentage of V.A. and Arlene Galloway. Janice attended public school in Dallas, Texas. She relocated back to Brownwood when she was 18, to be with her soon to be husband, E.A. Chapman. Janice was married to E.A. Chapman in 1959 and her family eventually moved to Sacramento, Calif. In 1988, the family returned to Brownwood and remained here until her passing.
Janice wanted to keep busy, so to occupy her time she worked at Walgreens for several years; she loved her job, co-workers, and customers. She soon retired to spend time with and enjoy her grandchildren.
Janice attended and was a founding member of Midtown Baptist Church where she volunteered numerous hours. She was a member of Christian Women Job Corps.
Janice participated in the cancer walks. She loved fishing, and was an adamant Bunko player. Janice enjoyed Friday nights cheering for the Brownwood Lions football team.
Janice was an animal lover and loved shopping. She was a very competitive bowler; she competed in Irving city, region and state carrying a high average of 187 points in bowling.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Jay Chapman (Cheryl) of Brownwood; son, Ray Chapman (Tracy Birmingham Covington) of Brownwood; step-daughter, Audrey Riley (Clay) of Brownwood; step-daughter, Teresa Cannedy (Roy) of Detroit, Texas; step-daughter, Jerri Smith (John) of Brownwood; best friend, Vicki Shipp of Brownwood; sister, Francis Smith (Randall) of Brookesmith; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, E.A. Chapman; both parents; brother, James Galloway; and niece, Janice Darlene Bradley.
