Anna Castle was born to Joseph and Anna Castle on March 16, 1892 in Marshall County, S.D. She grew to young womanhood near Britton and on Dec. 21, 1912, was united in marriage to Sigval Osness, Langford. To this union five daughters were born: Amy, Mrs. Arthur Weier, Amherst; Ruby, Mrs. John Lamberton, Langford; Edith, Mrs. John Symens, Claremont; Sylvia, Mrs. Clyde Bennett, Orangevale, Calif.; and Dorothy, Mrs. John Hewling, Aberdeen.
Mrs. Osness passed away at the Britton hospital, Dec. 31, 1959 at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 15 days. She is survived by her husband, five daughters and 12 grandhildren; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Fisher, Britton; Mrs. Lillian Hemen, Aberdeen; and Mrs. Mary Caldwell, So. Gate, Calif. Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Edwin, William and Fred.
While her family was growing up, she was an active member of the Methodist church, Langford, and the Langford Methodist Ladies Aid. Later she transferred to the Methodist church, Britton, and the Britton Women's Society of Christian Service, of which she was an active member until the time of her death. Mrs. Osness was also an active member of the Rebekah Lodge and Past Noble Grand Club of Langford.
