Cordis Lucille Umphlett Dudley, 92, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2013.

Born August 20, 1920 in Gates, NC she was the daughter of the late Mills and Lucy (Eure) Umphlett. She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Robert Lee Dudley, Sr.; her son, Robert Lee Dudley, Jr.; a sister, Ruby Rountree and brothers, Milton, James, Randolph and Leon Umphlett. Cordis was a lifetime member of Middle Swamp Baptist Church. She retired from the City of Chesapeake, where she drove a school bus for 22 years. She was an avid duck pin bowler and bingo player, she loved cooking, working in her garden and going fishing. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, daughter, Carolyn Everton and husband Gary; sons, Charles T. Dudley, Michael R. Dudley and wife Elizabeth, and daughter-in-law, Georgette Dudley. She was loved dearly by her eight grandchildren, Kimberly Higgerson, Kathy Heath, Mark Dudley, Nicki Dudley, Laura Davis, Jennifer and Michael Stann and Cameron Dudley; nine great-grandchildren, Hunter, Colby and Landon Higgerson, Logan, Karson and Kyleigh Heath, Adam, Lauren and Natalie Dudley; one great-great-grandson, Mark Dudley; sisters, Noreen Taylor, Lois Lawrence, Marion Spivey, Faye Hofler, Alta Gray; brothers, Ralph and M.Q. Umphlett.
