Mrs. Alvin Bartels, 45, of N. Union street died at 8:20 am Friday following a major operation at Decatur and Macon county hospital. She had been ill only a few days.
She was born April 11, 1892 in Concordia, Mo., and married Alvin Bartels March 5, 1920. A few years later they moved to Monticello coming to Decatur 2 years ago. Mrs. Bartels has been employed as a seamstress at Sam Loebs men's clothing store.
Besides her husband she leaves a son, Alvin, Jr., two brothers Emery and Mildreth Lang, both of Concordia, Mo. and three sisters, Mrs. Birdie Elling and Mrs. Suda Reno of Concordia, Mo. and Mrs. Anna Upfer, Colleridge, Neb.
