He had complained of not feeling well and had just, completed pitching on a load of hay, when he said: "I feel dizzy," and sank to the ground, expiring almost immediately. His nephew, Will Evans, who was on the load, went at once to Mr. Hess's assistance and also summoned several nearby neighbors, but Mr. Hess was dead before they readied his side.
Rudolph Hess was born at Northwood 67 years ago last January. He united in marriage with Miss Lena L. Kneaskearn of that place in 1869 and came to this village in 1883.
Besides his wife he leaves a brother, Gersham Hess, Utica and one sister, Mrs. David (Lydia) Miller of Poland; one half-brother, William Pardee of Northwood and several nieces and nephews, among them are Mrs. Thomas Wolf of Holland Patent and Mrs. Will Evans of this place.
