Mary A. Kakadeles

Mary A. Kakadeles, 76, mother of James George Kakadeles of Sandy Hook, died
Thursday, September 3, at Arlington Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Tex., where
she was undergoing treatment for leukemia.

Mary Ann Jurdy Whitlock Kakadeles was born April 30, 1922, in Lawrence, Mass.,
a daughter of the late David and Ramza Murad Jurdy, and had been a resident of
Bethel for the past 26 years. She was a 1939 graduate of Danbury High School,
and, until her retirement in 1984, she had been employed as a fore-lady at
Pitney Bowes for 15 years.

Mrs Kakadeles served as past president of the Bethel area Chapter #2449 of the
American Association of Retired Persons and was a member of the 60-plus Club
of Bethel. Until her death, she served as president of the Holiday Senior
Bowling League, where she consistently achieved highest league average. She
gave of herself unselfishly and tirelessly as a volunteer to many causes and
aided those in need and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

In addition to her son, her survivors include two daughters, Joyce Whitlock
Dreslin of Arlington, Tex., and Mary Whitlock Dolph of Austin, Tex.; another
son, Wallace George Whitlock of New Milford; six grandchildren, Courtney
Dreslin of Dallas, Tex.; Regan and Aimee Whitlock of New Milford.; Lauren
Dolph of Austin, Tex., and Jenna and Kaitlyn Kakadeles of Sandy Hook; tw
sisters, Isabelle Kalil and Lorraine Aberisk of Danbury; and a brother, George
Jurdy of Danbury; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a
sister, Clara Maccarini of Brewster.

Graveside services were Wednesday, September 9, at St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
