Elizabeth Wees Baungartner passed peacefully away at her home in Berne on Thursday evening, January 29, 1903, after an illness of eleven days.

Deceased was born in Engie, Canton Glarus, Switzerland, January 21, 1821. In 1856 she with her husband emigrated to this country, settling in New Glarus, Wisconsin. In 1863 the moved to Berne, Dodge county, Minnesota, where she has lived permanently, enjoying the confidence and esteem of her neighbors and all who knew her. Few people are so thoroughly prepared and await the great transition as she.

She was a Christian in every sense of the word, living a life of bright example to her children and acquaintances, a kind and indulgent mother, an obliging neighbor were he laurels in life's work. It can universally esteemed by all her acquaintances and will ever be held in grateful remembrance by the old settlers. She has fulfilled her mission here.

Her husband, John and five children survive her: Mrs. Godfrey (Catherine) Andrist, Mrs. Barbara Stucky, Jacob, John and Rudolph Baumgartner; also six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Zwingli church and was largely attended. Rev. J.G. Schmid conducted the service.
