She emigrated to the US with her parents in 1842 spending three years in Lycoming Co, PA before settling in Harlem Township, Stephenson Co, IL_ She was the wife of James Murch who was a railroad engineer. The couple had two daughters, Edna who died age age 9 and an adopted daughter, Edna.
