Rosemary Akers departed from this world Thursday, Jan. 17, at the age of 87. she was born on May 18, 1925 in Seminole City, Oklahoma, to Rosa and Walter Brown and was fourth of six children.

Rosemary was raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma and graduated from high school in 1943. She was married to Robert Akers, Jan. 1, 1944. They were married for 39 years until he went to be with the Lord in 1982.

Together, with her husband and children she has lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma; Butte, Montana; Vallejo, CA; Spokane, WA; Napa, CA; and Kalispell, Montana. After her children were grown she and husband, Robert moved to Woodland, CA, where he passed from this life in June, 1982. Rosemary moved to Merrill Gardens in Vacaville following Robert's death and for the past two years has resided at the Emeritus Retirement Home.

Rosemary was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Napa, and when she moved to Vacaville she joined Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She enjoyed doll collecting, playing cards with friends and having coffee with the neighbors. She also enjoyed reading westerns and biographies, watching Dean Martin movies and listening to his records, and watching westerns and other action movies. Her favorite pastime was talking with people over a cup of coffee and sharing her experiences. She remembered everyone's name from the moment she was introduced to them and she will be greatly missed by friends and family alike.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Akers (1982); son, Darrell Akers (2011); sister, Addie Hogue (1964) and Betty Brady (1979); brothers, Sterling Brown (1927), Lee Brown (1976) and James Brown (1991).

She is survived by son, Jesse Akers, and daughter-in-law, Dona Akers of Dixon; daughter, Cynthia Akers of Temecula, CA; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Akers of Vacaville; grandchildren, Christine Swetland of Fairfield; Sandra Souza of Escondido, CA; Eric Akers of Sacramento; Jessica, Courtney and Felicia Vose of Temecula; six great granchildren; and long time friend, Donna Thomas of Pacheco.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening, Jan. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville, CA.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at 1 p.m., at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 580 Trinity Drive, Vacaville, CA.
Interment will follow the service and will be at the Monument Hill Cemetery, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland, CA.
