James married Hannah Andrews, 11 Feb 1805, in Plainfield, VT. Known children:

-James Wheeler (1805-1885)
-Eliza Wheeler (1810-1902)
-Benjamin Wheeler (1812-1895)
-Wealthy Wheeler (abt.1816-aft.1900)
-Sally Wheeler (1817-1873)

James moved to Woodbury, VT about 1806. He brought his wife, one child, and their household goods on one load drawn by a pair of three-year-old steers from Plainfield, NH, and settled in a log house on East hill. He was captain of malitia.

James was a Captain in the War of 1812 and drew a land warrant for his service.

James' father Comfort had 3 wives. Comfort married his third wife when he was about 80 years old and she was young enough to bare two children, a daughter who died young and a son Constant, who was born 4 Dec 1847, making James 63 years older than his half brother Constant!
