James moved to Woodbury, VT about 1806. He brought his wife, one child, and their household goods on one load drawn by a pair of three-year-old steers from Plainfield, NH, and settled in a log house on East hill. He was captain of malitia.
James was a Captain in the War of 1812 and drew a land warrant for his service.
James' father Comfort had 3 wives. Comfort married his third wife when he was about 80 years old and she was young enough to bare two children, a daughter who died young and a son Constant, who was born 4 Dec 1847, making James 63 years older than his half brother Constant!
