Christianna (aka Christiana) first married John Georg Brandstetter, a drover. In 1860, they lived in the 19th Ward of Philadelphia with her mother (also named Christianna) and John Landenberg (also a drover). Two servants and a hostler lived with them.

Five years later, Christiana died of typhoid fever. According to her death cert, she was 42 years old, but the birth date given on her gravestone suggests she was in her 47th year.
