Harriet E. Lucas, widow of the late Theodore Lucas, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna Mackany, at Eau Claire, where she had been visiting for the past 6 weeks. The body was brought to Wausau and the funeral will be held next Monday; services being conducted at the home of her son, Elmer I. Lucas, 622 Steuben Street.
Harriet E. Hinton was born near Stevens Point March 17, 1844, and came to Wausau with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hinton, when she was 5 months old. She was united in marriage with Theodore Lucas February 5, 1860, and they were the parents of 9 children, 5 of whom survive - Mrs. Eda Best and Elmer I. Lucas of Wausau, Elroy Lucas of Galena, IL; Mrs. Edna Mackany of Eau Claire and Miss Elva Lucas of Wausau.
Mrs. Lucas spent most of her married life in Wausau, a few years having spent in the South. About 7 years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she never fully recovered. Just before Christmas she went to Eau Claire to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Mackany. She was enjoying very good health until a week ago when she suffered an attack of the grip gradually growing worse until the end came with a stroke of apoplexy yesterday morning.
