Flight Lieutenant Kinkead, D.S.O., D.S.C., D.F.C., died while attempting to break the world air speed record. He was at the time a member of the R.A.F. High Speed Flight competing for the Schneider Trophy.This team was based at R.A.F. Calshot which lies within the Parish.



His grave is in the front row, far right (tallest stone cross). There is a display regarding the Air Racing and F/Lt Kinkead at the Southampton Hall of Aviation.
