IRA C. WIDDOWSON OBITUARY

Ira Clark Widdowson, 92, of Penn Run, PA, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at West Penn Allegheny Health System, Pittsburgh, PA.

The son of Joseph A. and Carrie E. (Brilhart) Widdowson, he was born on August 18, 1920 in Cherryhill Township, Indiana County, PA.

Ira was a member of the Penn Run Church of the Brethren, where he was very active in all church activities and at the Christian Outreach Center. He also volunteered at the New Horizons.

He was a farmer all of his life. Ira had been employed at Robert Shaw Fulton Controls and he had served as a Cherryhill Township Supervisor. He enjoyed attending Quartet Concerts.

He married his wife, Anna Belle (Henry) Widdowson on November 2, 1942.

Ira is survived by his three daughters: Phyllis Bestvina and husband Joseph of Clymer, PA; Darlene Fyock and husband Tracy of Clymer, PA and Karen Widdowson of Penn Run, PA; five grandchildren: Julie Roof and husband Jerry of Brush Valley, PA; Diane Jones and husband Kenneth of Johnstown, PA; Stacy Neal and husband Brian of Homer City, PA.; Valerie Jessee and husband Lowell of Knoxville TN.; and Darla Strong and husband Michael of Warrenton, VA and nine great grandchildren: Joshua and Madison Roof; Travis Jones; Grace, Quintin and Braden Neal and Haley, Owen and Adam Strong.

Mr. Widdowson is also survived by Ernest Thackor and wife Persis of Woodridge, IL and their children, Allison Savini and husband David of Bourbonrais, IL; Jason of Woodridge, IL and grandchildren: Kyler and Kadyn Savini.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Belle on October 6, 2005; his parents; five brothers: Harry, Glen, Max, Paul and Robert and one sister, Bessie Myers.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 and again from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. A 10:30 a.m. funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 8, 2012 with Pastor Jeff Fackler officiating. Interment will follow at the Montgomery Cemetery.
