Donald Eugene Pommerer, of Raytown, Missouri, began his journey with Christ on January 17, 2013. Don was born in Duluth, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy. He is survived by his caring wife, Joann D. Pommerer, daughters Ann Marie Hamm (Jonathan), Katherine Wolfe (Steven), and Sarah Jenkins (Casey). Don had seven grandchildren, Cameron, Corinna, Lily, Grayson, Tyler, Alex, and Amelia, who were his pride and joy. The grandchildren will miss their special time with grandpa but memories of him will hold a special place in their hearts. Don and Joann were married on August 1, 1971. During their 41 years of marriage, they enjoyed countless adventures abroad during Don's Naval career. He enlisted in 1960 and retired in 1983 as a Chief Petty Officer having served in the Vietnam War. He not only served his country but spent years serving his community by volunteering at St. Regis School and Research Medical Center. Don was a humble man and showed great strength of character no matter what he faced. A visitation in Don's honor will be held Sunday, January 20, 2013 at St. John Francis Regis Catholic church, in Raytown, MO, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Francis Regis on January 21, 2013, with burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
