* Hotze, 30 November 1891, Sebaldeburen;

* Tonnis (Tony), 6 September 1903, Midwolde;
* Rensktje (Rena Kuiper[s]), 5 September 1905, Midwolde.

His father Jakob Scheeringa was in 1887, 1889 and 1891 a shopkeeper in his birthplace Sebaldeburen, in 1893 a laborer in Oldekerk, in 1896, 1897, 1898 and 1905 a farmer in Midwolde, in the southwestern part of province Groningen, municipality Leek, and in 1901 and 1903 a laborer in Midwolde.

On 9 May 1911 his brothers Hemke Scheeringa (24, farmer, departed from Aduard) and Egbert Scheeringa (21, farmer, departed from Oldekerk) arrived on the S.S. Noordam at the port of New York, Ellis Island. Their destination was Hammond, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana, where their friend J. van Til is residing.

On 7 May 1912 Willem (10), his father Jacob Scheeringa (56, farm laborer), his mother Grietje (48) and his siblings Harm (18), Martinus (16), Roelt (15), Margaretha (13), Tonnis (8) and Renstja (6) arrived on the S.S. Noordam at the port of New York, Ellis Island. They all departed from Leek, located in the southwestern part of province Groningen, and their destination was Hammond, Lake County, Indiana, where his brother Hemke E. Scheeringa was residing.

In 1917 his mother Grietje died at the age of about 54 years at Route B in Gary, Lake County, Indiana.

In 1920 William Scheeringa (18 y, born in Holland, immigrated in 1912), his father Jacob Scheeringa (63, Holland, widower, immigrated in 1912) and his siblings Edward (30, Holland, immigrated in 1909, single), Margaret (21, Holland, immigrated in 1912), Tony (16, Holland, immigrated in 1912) and Rena (14, Holland, immigrated in 1912) were living in Calumet Township, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana.

William or "Farmer Bill" farmed and peddled his produce in the Whiting and East Chicago area using only his horse and buggy. In 1928 Bill married Gertrude Kuiper, who was herself also an immigrant from Holland, and they eventually had ten children of their own.

On 7 May 1924 William Scheeringa married in Lake County, Indiana, the one year younger Gertrude Kuiper, who was born in Holland too.

In 1930 William Scheeringa (28, Holland, immigrated in 1908 [has to be: 1912]), his wife Gertrude (27, Holland, immigrated in 1906), their children Dirk Jacob (5, Indiana), Henry Louis (3, Indiana), Dara (2, Indiana) and Anthony (0, Indiana) were living in Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana.

In April 1940 William Scheeringa (38, truck farmer), his wife Gertrude (37), their children Dirk (15), Henry (13), Dora (12), Anthony (10), Lambert (8, Indiana), Sidney (6, Indiana), Loretta (4, Indiana) and Marvin (2, Indiana) were living at a rented farm at the West side of Broad Street, south from Ridge Road, in Griffith, Calumet Township, Lake County, Indiana. They lived in 1935 in the same house.

In 1940 the family moved into a farmhouse on Cline Avenue in Highland, Lake County, Indiana (the present day farm house) where he continued to farm and peddle until 1967. That year, with the help of his son Don and daughter Loretta, they opened "The Farm Stand", basically consisting of only a trailer full of produce for sale in front of the farmhouse.
Today, 2015, the farm is run by son Don Scheeringa, his wife Barbara, and his three daughters Jeannine, Jennifer and Janille. The Farm Stand has since been moved from the front yard, and has flourished into a larger stand, and several large greenhouses where they grow all of the hanging basket and bedding plants.

William Scheeringa died in March 1988 at the age of 86 years in Manatee County, on the west coast of Florida. His widow Gertrude died in 1996 at the age of about 93 years.
