Daugher of Thomas Addison Payne and Hannah Smith, wife of Frederick August Pfeiffer, a piano maker and tuner from Germany, whom she married on the 14th of May, 1856, and mother of Ida Europa, William Jacob, Frederick Adolphus, John Thilo, Edward Bertie, Evangeline, Eava and Dorsey Berry Pfeiffer. In 1870 they were living next door to her parents in Brookhaven and in 1880, mother Hannah was living with them and Frederick, shown as Frank, occupation "huckster" and Angeline, shown as Anna, were living in Stony Brook with children Edward and Eava. By 1900, she was widowed, living alone and in 1910 she was living with her daughter Evangeline and son-in-law Ellis L'Hommedieu. In 1930 she was living with son Edward and daughter-in-law Jennie Pfeiffer.
She was celebrated on her 94th birthday, February 27, 1932, for being the town's oldest resident.
