David Gable Williams

David Gable Williams was born in Coweta Co., GA to Robert Newton and Martha Slaughter Williams. Years of family research has yet to turn up the name "Gable" before David Gable or after. It is important to note however, according to the 1880 census for Coweta Co., GA there are several families with the surname Gable that lived near Robert and Martha. It is possible his middle name came from their neighbors.

NOTE: The birth date on David's burial marker is incorrect showing 1871. He was actually born July 6, 1872. This birth date is documented on his death certificate, the funeral home first call record, and his son, Thomas Franklin Williams' family bible shows his birthdate as 1872. I can also remember as a teenager, walking through the cemetery almost weekly and Granddaddy (Thomas Franklin Williams) telling me while pointing to his father's birthdate that it was wrong and that he was born in 1872.
