Edna Celina Nielsen, 96, passed away on January 15, 2013 of causes incident to age. A kind and loving, sharp-witted, service-oriented wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she was born on October 20, 1916 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Ernest Eugene and Blanche Stoker Baron. Her firm commitment to family and friends has been and will continue to be an inspiration to all who know and respect her.

She married Howard Harvey Peer in 1939 and they had a son, Larry Howard Peer. Her husband passed away in 1942, leaving her with an infant to rear under straightened circumstances, which she did with dignity and honor. In 1945, she met and married Howard Corbridge Nielsen, who brought with him a son, Hoard Garr Nielsen, a little boy who became more than just a stepson to her. Later, a son, Frank Baron Nielsen, was born to her and Howard Nielsen, and the three boys became her pride and joy.

Edna encountered and overcame many severe challenges in her childhood and youth, learning along the way to accept hard, individual responsibility and a survivor's mentality while still a child. She earned the right to the sacred titles "wife" and "mother" in the Kingdom of God. A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her membership and activity were deeply and eternally meaningful to her, and her loyalty has been a beacon to everyone.

Edna is survived by her two sons, Larry (Janet) Peer of Provo, Utah and Frank (Deeann) Nielsen of Arvada, Colorado, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands and son, Garr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Kingston Ward Chapel, 1425 Kingston Drive, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
