Lyle grew up in the area and was employed at Pontiac Motors for a number of years. He retired working for Chemical Bank in Caro. Lyle was united in marriage with the former Rosetta (Machovicz) Sheldon in 1971. She preceded him in death on February 21, 1993.
Lyle was a member of the Vassar Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2380 and the Caro Moose Lodge #1049. He will be fondly remembered as a constantly happy person that cared deeply for others.
In his younger years he enjoyed dancing, bird watching and fishing.
Lyle is survived by one son, Robert Guinther of Grand Blanc; three step-children, Roland Sheldon of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Warren Sheldon and his wife, Phillis of Reese, Monica Tobler and her husband, Scott of California; one grandson, Chris. Lyle had several step-grand children who meant a lot to him, and he talked about them all the time. Lyle also leaves behind three brothers, Stan Guinther and his wife, Melva, Richard Guinther, James Guinther and his wife, Joan, all of Cass City; three sisters, Irene Doerr, Norma Szarapski and her husband, Dick of Cass City, Marilyn Young and her husband, Jim of Caro; a special friend, Betty Watson of Caro.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister, William Hazen, Harold, Chuck, Lawrence, Roger and Evelyn; and an infant daughter, Mylia.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. John Ladd officiating.
