Obituary
MARILYN KAY GUINTHER YOUNG, 78 of Caro, passed away peacefully, in the early hours of October 10, 2021, at United Hospice of Marlette. She had recently celebrated her victory of overcoming cancer but passed shortly thereafter following a brief illness.
Marilyn was fun-loving and enjoyed life. She adored her family and was always trying to find ways to bring them together. Marilyn enjoyed decorating birthday cakes, finding new recipes, and simply showing people that she loved them. She enjoyed riding in classic cars with her husband, Jim. Together they attended car shows, cruises, and were regulars in the Cass City Parade. Marilyn was Jim's "Crew Chief" when he drag raced in Ubly. They were active members of the Antique Auto Club.
Marilyn enjoyed people and had numerous special friends who were like family to her. She was affectionally called Tootsie growing up and the nick name still remains. Marilyn worked at Walbro in Caro and retired after twenty-four years. She loved to sing and was often found grabbing a mic while wintering in Florida to sing a Patsy Cline or country song. Marilyn was also a member of the Tom Thumb Singers in Cass City. She participated in the Red Hat Society, Women of the Moose, and Friends of the Library in Cass City. Marilyn enjoyed her gardens, floral arranging, and assisting those in need. She had a full life and will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Marion (Brown) Guinther; one grandson, Timothy Alan Hover; two great-granddaughters: Madison Silvernail, Mia Silvernail; siblings: William Hazen (Elfrieda) Guinther, Harold (Esther) Guinther, Lyle (Rose) Guinther, Roger (Sharon) Guinther, Chuck Guinther, Richard (Priscilla) Guinther, Irene (Jack) Doerr, John Guinther, Evelyn (John "Bud") Gruber, Stan Guinther; brother-in-law, Richard Szarapski.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in Colwood Church, Caro with Rev. Arnold Burger officiating. Interment will be in Ellington Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Revive Ministries or Friends of Rawson Memorial Library. Family and friends may share memories, prayers, and photos at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
