The Greenville News (SC) - Friday, September 11, 1936, Page 8LANDRUM, SC - September 10 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Barton, 68, widow of the late Thomas Barton, will be conducted from Liberty Methodist Church of which she had been a devoted member since girlhood, Friday morning at 11 o'clock by the Rev. M. W. Lever. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Active pallbearers will be Frank Green, W. P. Morrow, Sam Crain, Loyce Barton, Paul Barton and Claude Whelchel.Flower bearers will be Helen Vaughan, Mary Ella Vaughn, Franklin Barton, Frances William, Lucille Reid, Ruth Crain and Nettie Smith.She is survived by four sons, two daughters, six grandchildren, one half-sister. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Turner Whelchel. She died Wednesday night at her home, Landrum, Route 2.
