Tena was the daughter of Carl Gustave and Matilda Nelson Holst, Swedish immigrants. She married Charles Warren Apgar on 24 December 1909. He died in March 1966.
She died in the Ford County Nursing Home. She was survived by a niece, Leona Serlin, of Chicago. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Manda Susannah Holst, in 1955, and Selma (Axel) Anderson, in 1962. Also preceding her in death were brothers Axel and Nils.
