S.D. "Bocie" Vaughn, 53, died at the home of his daughter in New Orleans Monday, December 12. He had been ill for five years. He had gone to the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.L. Buras, Friday for a visit. He was born in Norfleet on December 18, 1896, and lived in Pulaski County and Somerset all his life, engaging principally in farming. In 1918 he married Zona Johnson of Somerset.

He was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church and had lived a life that had gained him many friends and the good will of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Zona, and nine children, Mrs. James Phelps, Nancy; Ray Vaughn, Somerset; Mrs. Reece Glover, Drum; Mrs. H.L. Buras, New Orleans, Louisiana; Lowell Vaughn, Somerset; Mrs. T.C. Shook, Orlando, Florida; Fern Vaughn, Dennie Vaughn, and Pauline Vaughn, at home; a brother, Willie Vaughn, Nancy; and a sister, Mrs. Dee Flynn, Nancy.

The remains were returned to Somerset from New Orleans Wednesday. Funeral services will be at the Piney Grove Baptist Church at 2:00 o'clock Thursday with the Rev. Bert Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in the Norfleet Cemetery.
