Dorothy Cecilia Sapp Seaton, age 97, of Cohutta, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Hamilton Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred R. Seaton, Sr.; parents, William Martin & Ethel Sapp; sisters, Ethel Farrar and Eugenia Sapp; brother, William M. Sapp, Jr.
Mrs. Seaton was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cohutta. She was involved with many organizations including the Whitfield Murray Historical Society, Dalton Garden Club, The Lesche Club of Dalton, Daughters of the American Revolution, Magna Carta Dames and Cohutta Town Council. She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was also the Society Editor of Dalton Citizen newspaper and a teacher at Cohutta Elementary School.

She is survived by her two daughters & sons-in-law, Eugenia & Alan Powell of Warner Robins, GA and Cecilia & Dale Bridges of Cohutta; two sons & daughters-in-law, Bob & Sharon Seaton and William & Cynthia Seaton, all of Cohutta; grandchildren, Robin & Doug Brown of Austin, TX, Stephen Bridges of Cohutta, Holly & Jeremy Thompson of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Anna, Spencer, David & Rebecca Brown of Austin, TX, Damon & London Thompson of Dalton; special friends, Melba Riddell, Sandra Milton and Evelyn Patterson; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanette Seaton, Suelle Broome, Charles & Nell Seaton; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Seaton will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Cohutta with Rev. Susan Reggin officiating. Burial will be at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Cohutta, P.O. Box 87, Cohutta, GA 30710 or the Dorothy Seaton Scholarship, c/o Whitfield Murray Historical Society P.O. Box 6180, Dalton, GA 30722.
