Quincy businessman Scott Raymond Hall Kelly, Sr. peacefully passed from this life Sunday afternoon, October 21st, 2012 at Plumas District Hospital at the age 91.

Born in Eufala, Oklahoma to the late Andrew and Alma (Williams) Kelly on November 28, 1920 Scott and his family moved to California when he was thirteen settling in Pacific Grove, CA where Scott graduated from Pacific Grove High School as a member of the "Class of 1938". While attending high school Scott worked in the Monterey Bay canning industry. Upon his graduation from high school he moved to Redding, CA to work on the construction of the Shasta Dam and later moved to the San Francisco Bay area where he worked in the Richmond shipyards. It is here he began what became a career as a barber starting out cutting hair at the old California Hotel.

At the onset of World War II he was advised by an uncle not to wait to be drafted and to enlist which Scott did in the U.S. Navy where he became a member of the elite Seabee's serving in the Pacific during the War.

Following his honorable discharge and return stateside Scott spent a brief period of time in Corvallis, Oregon before moving to the Northeastern California community of Quincy in 1946. On his first day in Quincy he attended a local VFW dance where he was introduced to a pretty young lady named Esther Ramelli an encounter that led to the couple's marriage in Reno, Nevada in 1947. To this union two sons were born.

Scott first opened a Barber shop in Quincy next to the Masonic Lodge and later across the street from the courthouse where he served the men of the community before retiring in 1986. Scott with the help of his wife constructed Kelly's Trailer Park on Lawrence Street selling it in 1985 and continuing to manage it until 1987. The also owned and managed numerous rentals in the area as well as in Nevada.

While in business Scott was active in numerous organizations but was most proud of his affiliations with the Plumas Lodge #60 F.& A.M. where he held numerous chairs and served the lodge as a Past Master, the Ben Ali Shrine Club and the Quincy Kenneth M. Hayes Post 3825 of the VFW where he served the Post in numerous positions to include Commander.

In passing Scott leaves his loving wife of sixty five years; Esther of Quincy, grandsons; Douglas Kelly and Brian Kelly and great grandchildren; Rosemary, Willow and Fern Kelly.

He joins his two sons Scott Jr. and Carl along with one brother and six sisters in their eternal home.
