Ellen Condas Bayas passed away quietly in her sleep January 3, 2013. She was born in Salt Lake city, Utah to John G. and Demetra Siarris Condas. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah. She spent seventeen years with the Foreign Service branch of the State Department
working at embassies and consulates overseas. Her postings were in Turkey, Greece, Japan, Iraq, and Switzerland. There she met and married Pando Bayas. The couple came back to Salt Lake City to make their home.
Later she was employed at the U of U Medical Center Department of Psychiatry, the Repertory Dance Theater and lastly the Office of Federal Contract Compliance.
She loved doing ceramics and decorating birthday cakes, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandson. She was always willing to help anyone in any way she could.
Ellen is survived by her daughter Hermione (James) Klekas, grandson Nicholas, and a sister, Alexandra Ockey of Roseville, CA along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Pando, and siblings Mike Condas, George Condas, Nick Condas, Mary Condas Lehmer, and Chris Condas.
She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Private funeral services were held with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
