Services for Lorene Akers, 78, Clovis, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at First Assembly of God. The Revs. J.M. Barnard and V. Ray Allen will officiate.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Steed-Todd Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Akers died Sunday, July 11, 1993, at Plains Medical/Clovis. She was born May 23, 1915, to John Roy and Effie Mae Owen in Holdenville, Okla. The Owen family came to the Clovis area in 1920, finally settling in the Center Community. She married Ben O. Akers on Nov. 14, 1933, in Clovis. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-laws, Alvin and Ann Akers, Fresno, Calif., and Bennie and Norma Akers, Las Cruces and Clovis; her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Sid Turner, Clovis; one daughter, WillaFaye Collinsworth, Clovis; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve Owen, Clovis; and three sisters, Oneta Luce and Juanita Wall, both of Texico, and Edna McCray, Denver City, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben O. Akers, on April 8, 1993, a granddaughter, Debra Lynn Akers, in January of 1975, a brother, Houston Owen, and a sister, Pauline House.
Casket bearers will be Terry Akers, Donnie Turner, Ricky Turner, Gary Turner, Kevin Akers, Lance Akers, Greg Akers and Rocky Collinsworth.
Honorary bearers will be Shelley Ellis and Leslie Micola, great-grandchildren, Harvester Sunday School class, and the doctors and nurses of Plains Medical/Clovis.
