IN GRASP OF GRIM REAPER - Rockford Homes Saddened by Death Yesterday - OLD CITIZENS ARE GONE
Robert Andrews and William Reid Pass Away - Mrs. L. J. Faulkner of Winnebago Dies at City Hospital
Robert Andrews [Andrew] died last night at 6 o'clock at his home, 921 First avenue, after an illness of a week of pneumonia. He was 72 years of age and one of the old settlers of this portion of the state. He was born in Argyleshire, Scotland, and came to this country in 1842, coming to Rockford the next year. His occupation was that of miller and he followed this until 25 years ago, when he retired.
He is survived by his wife and three children. The latter are Mrs. J. F. Duncan, Miss Adella Andrews and Robert M. Andrews, all of Rockford. A brother, J. J. Andrews, lives in Rockford, and another, William Andrews, lives in Guilford. A sister, Mrs. Fillers, lives at Argyle.
The arrangements for the funeral are not completed, the service being held at the home early in the week.
Mr. Andrews was one of the hardy Scotch who helped to build up the new country, coming here among the earliest and making his home where he first located on the then almost unbroken prairies of Illinois. He was characterized by the virtues of his fellow countrymen and rugged honesty and strength of character were strong features of his make-up.
