Son of John and Mary Campbell Clark (Quakers) from South Carolina.

Husband of Sarah Young, they are the parents of Jesse Clark; and Rachel Clark who married Washington Alexander.

Below is a quote taken from a journal written by his grandson Augustus Washington Alexander.

"He was known as Major Clark, wore a sword in the War of 1812. During two seven year terms he was Judge of the Court of Common Appeals in Greene County. His integrity was simply absolute. An honester man than Judge Clark, never breathed. He was also a man of strong clear mind, but he used his mind, his mental processes were slow.

He was about five feet, nine or ten inches high, corpulent with a broad high forehead, a lively blue eye, masculine and regular features, sober but benevolent features and expression. His command of temper was nearly absolute."

Judge John Clark was born in Union District, S.C. and I think in 1776. His death which I witnessed, occurred exactly the week after mother's. (Rachel Clark Alexander mar. to Washington Alexander).

His sister Rebecca Clark Stewart and her family are buried here in the same location with the Alexander family as well.
