Keller, Ethel Doris nee: Courtois

Ethel Keller, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born May 16, 1921 to Benedict and Cecelia (Halloran) Courtois. Ethel graduated from Appleton High School in 1939. She married John Keller on February 19, 1944 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. Ethel was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish in Neenah. She was involved in the founding of J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc. in November 1953. She served as a member of the corporation's Board of Directors, as Assistant Vice President and also as Social Services Officer. The Keller Foundation, Ltd. was founded in 1991 in honor of Ethel's 70th birthday. Also, the John J. & Ethel D. Keller Donor Advised Fund was established at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Inc. in 1994. In her later years, Ethel dedicated her time, talent and treasure to improving the lives of children and those whose needs were often ignored. She encouraged people "to brighten the corner of the world where you are."

Survivors include her husband, John "Jack" Keller; three sons: Robert (Lynne) Keller, Kaukauna; James (Rosanne) Keller, Butte des Morts; Thomas Keller, Tomah; six grandchildren: Marne Keller (Alec) Krikava, Appleton; Rustin (Christina) Keller, Neenah; Rachael Keller (Philip) Graebel, Sherwood; Adam Keller and special friend, Katie Schweitzer, Neenah; Brian (Melissa) Keller, Neenah; Angela Keller, Butte des Morts; six great-grandchildren: Madeleine Krikava, Quinten Krikava, Jack Keller, Grace Graebel, Noah Graebel, James Keller; three brothers: Wesley Courtois, Oshkosh; Eugene (Diane) Courtois, San Francisco, CA; John (Barbara) Courtois, Redondo Beach, CA; an aunt, Tress Halloran, Hortonville; an uncle, Norman Halloran, Plymouth; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Courtois and Mary Keller; and a brother-in-law, Kuno Keller.

The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 900 Geiger Street, Neenah, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. Entombment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum, Appleton. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, December 27, at ST. GABRIEL'S from 3-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the John J. & Ethel D. Keller Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Inc.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Lee Vogel and the staffs at Appleton Medical Center and ThedaCare Hospice for the wonderful care they provided during this past week.Buried in Star of Hope Mausoleum, Appleton, Wisconsin, which is not posted on Find A Grave.
