Wesley F. Courtois, age 81 of Oshkosh, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 in Kindred Hospital after an extended hospital stay. Wes was born on October 23, 1925 in Appleton, the son of Benedict and Cecelia (Halloran) Courtois. A graduate of St. Therese Grade School and the Appleton High School Wes was a graduate of University of Wisconsin. He also was a World War II veteran having served with the Army Air Corps.

Wes is a retiree of Rockwell International. On August 25, 1951, Wes married Dorothy Wren at St. Therese Church in Appleton. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage before her death on May 19, 2004. In Wes and Dorothy's early years of marriage, they lived in GI housing and Badger Village outside of Madison. After a short stay in suburban Chicago, they settled in Oshkosh in 1954. A long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wes served as a Boy Scouts leader when his children were young. He enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, hunting, golfing and musky fishing. In his younger days, Wes enjoyed blasting big band and jazz music from the "hi-fi," and could cut a mean rug. In more recent years, one of his favorite things to do was to snooze out on the patio listening to the Cubs and Badger games.

Wes was a dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be lovingly missed by his children: David (Lynette) of Alameda, CA, Mary of Oshkosh, Richard (Debbie) of Lake Mills, WI, Anne (William) Monroe of St. Charles, IL and Kathy (Matt) Dedow of Oshkosh grandchildren: Luke, Matthew (Leann), Anthony, Cody, Kyle, Amelia, Dana, Joseph; great-grandchildren: Lilliana and one expected in August. Wes is further survived by his brother: Eugene (Diane) of San Francisco; sister-in-law: Barbara of Redondo Beach, CA, brother-in-law: Jerome (Suzanne) Wren, brother: Bill (Betty) Siekert, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear friends and family member.

Wes a preceded in death by his wife, his parents, son, Stephen, daughter-in-law: Annette, sister and brother-in-law: Ethel and John "Jack" Keller and a sister-in-law: Madge Siekert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2007 in St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on Knapp Street (formerly Sacred Heart Catholic Church) with Rev. Fr. William Van De Kreeke as celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2007 in Poklasny Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday in the church.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU in Mercy Medical Center and the nursing staff at Kindred Hospital for the excellent care they gave their Dad.
