He was born and raised in Pactolus Community in Sullivan County. He moved to Greene County in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Panama.
He had worked for Kingsport Power Company and retired from Greeneville Light and Power System.
Mr. Wexler was an avid sportsman and hunter, and enjoyed fast pitch softball and bird hunting.
Survivors include two sons: Terry Wexler and his wife, Claudia, John Wexler and Susan Kitchings all of Kingsport; five grandchildren and their spouses: Brian and Michelle Wexler, Ben Wexler, Sonya and Ronnie Partin, Michael Wexler, Kristy and Billy Cutshall; six great-grandchildren: Ashlynn Keasling, Luke Keasling, Taylor Wexler, Hunter Wexler, Taylor Craft, and Olivia Wexler; one sister: Edna Ruth Kelley of Big Stone Gap, VA; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years: Roxie Looney Wexler; nine brothers and sisters.
At Mr. Wexler's request there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service. The Rev. David Woody will officiate.
