John I. Underwood, 63, of Little Washington Rd., died Tuesday evening at the Veteran's Hospital in Cleveland where he was admitted four weeks ago.
Born in Mansfield, he spent his entire life in this area. He was a veteran of the World War II, having served in Europe with the infantry. He retired from the Tappan Co. with 36 years of service and was a member of the Tappan Quarter Century Club.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Haverstick [Hoverstick] Underwood; a daughter, Mrs Dale (Martha) Secrist of Crestline; three sisters, Mrs Viola Lesline [Leslein], Mrs Ralph Humphrey and Mrs Harry Cook, all of Columbus and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 pm at the Snyder Funeral Home at 2553 Lexington Ave. with the Rev. Don Rinehart, paster of the Lexington Congregational CHurch, officiating. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery with Military graveside services. Friends may call after noon Friday.
